Maintain a fleet of bikes for lending, rental, and have dozens of repeat customers over 25 years. So i do learn the good and bad things of practices and products over time. Any of the few helpers working on GBOL's bikes are trained to do fundamentals first. They would have inspected/measured major parts for history, and then look at moving parts for current adjustment. Then we marinate the bikes joints for days, to take apart carefully, not in a rush.

We try to preserve as much of the original parts as possible. Changing parts when excessively worn, or to benefit of new usage.

Balls/grease are an exception, they are changed precautionarily often. Using High grade(25 or better) balls and phil wood grease mostly.
